We were recently called out to a property where a Potterton Promax boiler, around 16 years old, had broken down and was no longer economical to repair. The boiler had originally been installed under the Scottish Government free boiler scheme by a previous homeowner, but after years of service, it had reached the end of its lifespan.
This job came to us through a personal recommendation from an existing customer, something we really value and never take for granted.
The New Installation
The old boiler was replaced with a Worcester Bosch 4000 30kW combi boiler, providing improved efficiency, better heating control, and reliable hot water delivery. The installation included:
-
New vertical flue
-
System filter to protect the boiler
-
Hive Smart Control for easier temperature management
-
New condensate pump to replace the existing unit
This setup gives the homeowner a modern, efficient heating system with improved control and long-term reliability.
System Water Quality
During the installation, we identified that the system water quality throughout the property was extremely poor. While this didn’t prevent the boiler from being installed safely, it’s important to address to protect the new system.
We’re already scheduled to return at the beginning of March to carry out a thorough system flush, ensuring the boiler and radiators continue to operate efficiently and reliably.
A Job Built on Recommendation
Being recommended by existing customers is something we’re proud of. It reflects the level of trust people place in our workmanship, advice, and aftercare.
If your boiler has broken down or you’re considering an upgrade, Tayside Gas Services can assess your system properly and recommend a solution that’s right for your home.
